The purpose of the Youth Museum Team is to develop museum activities, familiarize youth with culture and let them influence the event selections of Vaasa youth services and museums.
The museum team is meant for the youth or ones feeling young, and the recommended age is from 13 to 29 years. The museum team works in collaboration with Vaasa city museums and youth services. The Youth Museum Team meets once a month on Thursdays from 15.00 to 17.00. The exhibit / museum of the meeting is decided together. Communication is done through a WhatsApp group.
As a member you partake in planning and brainstorming events and art experiences geared towards the youth. We want to make museums easily approachable, offer meaningful activities for the youth, provide a view of the museums of Vaasa and give an opportunity to plan activities. You’ll learn about cultural capital and see things from new perspectives.
We wish for enrollments through email to museum pedagogue Liisa Palomäki (liisa.palomaki@vaasa.fi) or hobby coordinator Johanna Maartonen (johanna.maartonen@vaasa.fi). We record the number of participants and their ages into our system.
The main language of the meetings is Finnish, but the aim is to provide them in both domestic languages (Finnish and Swedish) and in English when needed. You may use your own strongest language. The schedules are flexible, so it’s not a big deal if you don’t make it to the museum in time. Every meeting will try to provide coffee or tea and small snacks for the participants.
Participation grants you a certificate and free admission to the museum exhibits of Vaasa.
Meetings are once a month on Thursdays from 15.00 to 17.00.
